Horsetail Extract
Plant-based silica to support hair strength, biotin-free.*
Found in: Hair Growth Gummies
What is Horsetail Extract?
Horsetail (Equisetum arvense) is a fern-like plant whose stems are unusually rich in silica, the natural form of the mineral silicon. Silicon plays a role in building connective tissue, which is why horsetail is a traditional ingredient in hair, skin and nail formulas. In Xtressé, horsetail provides plant-based silica to support hair strength, as part of a biotin-free formula.
How it supports hair growth*
Builds strength into every strand.
Horsetail is rich in silicic acid and silicates, supplying roughly 2–3% elemental silicon, a mineral that supports strong, resilient hair.
Supports the scalp new hair grows from.
Silica plays a role in forming connective tissue, the support structure around each follicle.
Strength without biotin.
It gives a hair formula a mineral route to stronger-looking strands, with no biotin needed.

Where is Horsetail Extract found in nature?
Horsetail (*Equisetum arvense*) grows in damp ground across the temperate Northern Hemisphere, including Asia, North America and Europe. Its green, jointed stems, which look like tiny pine trees, are the part used.
Did you know?
Its silica-gritty stems were once used to scour pots and smooth wood, giving it the names "scouring rush" and "shave grass".

Yes. Silica supports strong, resilient hair, and horsetail is one of the richest plant sources of it, supplying roughly 2–3% elemental silicon.
Biotin is a B vitamin. Horsetail supplies the mineral silica, supporting hair strength through a different route, with no biotin required.
Yes, when the correct species (*Equisetum arvense*) is used and the extract is thiaminase-free. Avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
