Taurine
Supports follicle health through the growth phase of the hair cycle.*
Found in: Hair Growth Gummies
What is Taurine?
Taurine is an amino sulfonic acid the body makes from the amino acid cysteine, and it is also found in meat, seafood and dairy. In lab studies on human hair follicles, taurine was absorbed by the follicle and helped it survive and keep growing. In Xtressé, taurine supports follicle health through the growth phase of the hair cycle.
How it supports hair growth*
Protects the growth phase.
In studies on human hair follicles, taurine extended follicle survival and kept them growing.
Shields follicles from growth-stopping signals.
Taurine countered TGF-β1, a signal that halts hair growth and pushes follicles toward rest.
Absorbed right where hair is made.
Follicles take taurine up into the hair bulb and the sheaths around it, the zone where new hair is produced.

Where is Taurine found in nature?
Taurine is abundant in animal foods such as meat, seafood, eggs and milk, and present only in small amounts in plants. Your body also makes its own from the amino acid cysteine. The taurine used in supplements is made synthetically and is identical to the body's own.
Did you know?
Taurine is named after *taurus*, Latin for bull, because German scientists Friedrich Tiedemann and Leopold Gmelin first isolated it from ox bile in 1827.

Yes. In studies on human hair follicles, taurine was absorbed by the follicle, supported its survival and protected it from a signal that stops hair growth.
It is made without animal sources and is identical to the taurine your body produces, in line with a vegetarian, shellfish-free formula.
Same molecule, different job. Here it supports the follicle through the growth phase, not your energy levels.
